7/22 - Google vs Edco Heating & Air Conditioning

Google lost a heartbreaker. After leading 12-3 for the first 4 innings, we allowed Edco to rally in the 5th where they gained 5 runs and then lost all energy in the 7th where they scored another 8. Google lost 17 - 14.

First inning, Martha, Christian, Lynn, and Joe scored. In the 2nd, Ryan and Shaun. Joe scored again in the 3rd and then in the 4th Liz, Shaun, Martha, Christian, Joe, and Kip scored.

Fielding wise, Kip had some nices stops and throws to 1st. Ryan also had some good stops and throws from short stop to 1st. Our outfield led by Shaun and Christian snagged several pop ups. Kip also pitched 4 strike outs. We held them scoreless 2nd to 4th innings. Not sure what happened after that.

Much appreciation to Liz for coming out last minute and Alice (Martha's sister) who flew in from the East Coast to help us have five women to take the field.

7/7 - Sluggers vs Google

Google played the undefeated Sluggers on a windy Tuesday. Our goals for the game were to keep them to only one time thru their batting order in an inning and to keep the score under 20. We did both. In fact one inning they had a 3 up / 3 down. We also held them to 17 points. Final score was Google 1, Sluggers 17.

Our outfield did an excellent job despite the gusty wind making fly balls hard to catch. Shaun, Martha, Christian, and Lynn all made catches. The Sluggers did live up to their name hitting a grandslam homerun in the first inning. This came back to hurt them in later innings, though, due to the progressive home run rules.

7/01 - Google vs SWAT

Add another win to our total. The Google team showed up for their game on a hot (90+) day with no wind (weird). We were ready to play, but the other team didn't even show up. So we won by the other team forfeiting. Many thanks to Melissa and Christin for coming in and letting us field a full team.

6/17 - Google vs Nelson Tires

The Google softball team faced Nelson Tires Wednesday at 7:30pm. The sun was out, but it was pretty breezy making pitching a bit of a chore. Tyler pitched, even tho he had a sore foot. We ended up with more gals than guys, with Christin and Sarah coming in from Hood River and Brittney's sister playing as well.

Fielding went pretty well, with some good catches in the outfield, by Shaun. Brittney and Christin made catches and good throws to first to get outs. Batting wise we started off slow with pretty much 3 up/3 down for the first 3 innings but finally got going in the 4th scoring a run with another run in the 5th. So we ended up losing 13-2. Which was better than last year's 18-1 loss.

No game next week (June 22-26th). But we have practice Monday, June 22nd at the Wahtonka Hi field off Hosteler Rd.

6/09 - Google vs 2075 Moose

We were due for a win, and win we did. Google scored 31 runs to 12 runs by 2075 Moose. This sets the record for the most runs scored by Google in a game. Everyone was hitting well. With several doubles, triples, and in-field home runs. The last inning we played, we scored 16, almost making it thru our batting line up twice. Fielding wise, we were shaky during the first inning letting Moose score 8 runs, but after that the best they could do was 2 runs. Tim continued to pitch well. Melissa snagged a couple of grounders, throwing the running out at 1st. Outfielders did a good job as well, catching some flys and getting the ball in quick to keep runners from only getting one base. We even tagged a runner out that was trying for home.

6/4 - Google vs Amerities

Due to the strong storms going thru the Gorge, we thought they'd call the games due to weather. Unfortunately they didn't so we had to forfeit.

6/02 - Google vs La Cruz Tree Service

A cooler day then the last game greeted our team as we faced off versus La Cruz Tree Service. We were first up. We scored 4 runs in the first inning with Tim getting a home run off a strong double and some bad throws by the fielders. Third inning we scored some more runs with some strong hitting including a triple by Martha. Fielding wise we had several good innings where we held La Cruz scoreless. Tim continued to pitch well getting a couple of strike outs.

We were able to field a full team thanks to Liz and Cindy answering the call to help out.

Sandoz wins, but otherwise an excellent first game for Google!

Although the score ended at 6-14, this still felt like a good first showing for the Google softball team.  Our opponents were pretty strong, with solid hitters and some good plays (including their first-base lady, who almost did the splits to catch a ball and get one of us out).  We also had some good plays, though, including an amazing catch by Shaun and very steady catching from Joe, our own first-base man.  Pictures of our game should be forthcoming.

Next week we have two games, one Tuesday and one Thursday, so we won't officially have a practice.  We may be slightly short on female players for those games, so if any of our ladies didn't make it this week but can make it next week, or if anyone knows a girl who wouldn't mind playing softball, please contact Mr. Entze.
